WHO AM I

I’ve never been interested in leadership for the title. I have always been more interested in what leadership allows us to do.

  • -  Can we make something work better?

  • -  Can we help someone understand what once felt

  •     impossible?

  • -  Can we bring people into the room who should have been there all along?

My career has taken me through public service, nonprofit leadership, financial services, community development, education, civic work, and media. But one lesson has stayed consistent:

"People want to be respected"

They want to understand what is happening.

They want a fair opportunity.

They want to know what they contribute matters.

That understanding shapes how I lead, how I advise, and how I show up for people.

HOW I APPROACH COMPLEXITY

Complex does not have to mean impossible.

Most difficult situations are rarely caused by one thing. An operational problem may also be a trust problem. A financial problem may expose a governance problem. A community challenge may really be an access problem.  My approach is to slow the noise down, understand what is actually happening, and build a practical path forward.

Clarity creates movement.

WHAT I BELIEVE

A few things experience has taught me.

The longer I lead, the more convinced I become that strong organizations and strong communities are built on a few simple principles — how we treat people, how we use opportunity, and what we choose to leave behind.

How we build matters just as much as what we build.
